A message from John M. Kennedy, music director
Dear Friends of Chamber Music, I am writing to let you know about the Chamber Players of Los Angeles, a chamber music group I began a few years
ago. Since 2006, the Chamber Players of Los Angeles has performed a variety of music at venues throughout Southern California,
including the Miles Playhouse in Santa Monica, The Warner Grand Theater Annex in San Pedro and Occidental College in Los Angeles.
Theodore Bell wrote in Culture Spot LA, the Chamber Players of Los Angeles beams as another outstanding example of the
quality in our local chamber music scene.
This
season, the CPLA will present concerts of works from France at the Miles Playhouse Fireside series in February, and a concert
of modern works by American and Russian composers in April.
The
opportunity to present these concerts does not come without its costs. In these days of dwindling government and corporate
support, we are finding it difficult to cover the costs of our remaining season. The CPLA self-produces these concerts in
the region, including our traditional American Music concert every November. We will be planning on a concert of the piano
quintets of Schubert and Vaughn Williams and the CPLA Zappa-Mingus Project. Your support of the Chamber Players of Los Angeles
will have rewards, which will far outweigh the cost of a donation.
The
Chamber Players of Los Angeles is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions
in behalf of the Chamber Players of Los Angeles may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax deductible to the extent
permitted by law. Please send contributions to the address below. Checks should be made payable to Fractured Atlas, with "In
behalf of the Chamber Players of Los Angeles" in the memo line. Contributions can also be made online by going to our
website, www.chamberplayerslosangeles.com, and clicking on "donate to the CPLA" in the right column for
a link to Fractured Atlas. Information about our upcoming concerts and the CPLA in general is also available on our website.
Thank you for your generous support.
Sincerely,
John M. Kennedy, Music Director
